On 22/9, Bui Hoang Giang, Vice Chairman of Bao Lam 2 People's Committee, stated that the incident occurred on the lakeside road in Loc Duc 10 village, following a period of heavy rain from the night of 17/9 to 20/9.

The road surface developed numerous cracks, subsidence, and foundation collapses over a stretch of about 200 m. The cracks are about 20 cm wide and 0,2-1,2 m deep. A land strip, showing signs of cracking and slippage, extends about 600 m towards the hillside, with a risk of further movement if heavy rain persists.

This road leads to a production area and has no residential population. Three homestays near the landslide area have ceased operations and are unoccupied, meaning the incident has not directly affected residents.

According to initial local authority assessments, heavy rain created strong currents, eroding the talus base, weakening the road foundation, and causing slippage. The incident site is about 1,2 km from the Dak Long Thuong Lake spillway. The lake's water level is currently low, posing no threat to the structure's safety.

Dak Long Thuong Lake has a capacity of over 11 million m3 and a basin area of 14,3 km2, making it one of Lam Dong's large reservoirs. The facility provides irrigation water for thousands of hectares of crops and serves the daily needs of local residents.

For nearly half a month, continuous heavy rain has caused landslides and ground cracks in many areas of Lam Dong, including the D'ran, Prenn, and Dai Ninh passes, and Quang Son commune. Some roads have been temporarily closed, and dozens of households evacuated from high-risk landslide areas.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warned that from the afternoon of 21/9 to 24/9, eastern Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, and the Southern region could experience rainfall of 150-250 mm per period, with some localized areas exceeding 400 mm. Some places could see over 100 mm of rain in three hours, increasing the risk of flash floods, inundation, and landslides.
