Second school point inaugurated in Quang Tri border commune

The A Ky school point, handed over to Thuong Trach commune, is the second newly built school facility completed by hope fund and its partners.

On the morning of 6/4/2026, Hope Fund, FPT Group, and the Thuong Trach Commune People's Committee held an inauguration ceremony for the A Ky school point, part of Thuong Trach No. 2 Primary School. This school is nestled in the mountains near the Laos border, lacking both grid electricity and phone signal.

The A Ky school point features 3 classrooms, 2 staff rooms, a multi-purpose hall, a kitchen, restrooms, a gate, a fence, and a yard. The total project value exceeded 2.3 billion VND, with over 1.9 billion VND provided in sponsorship.

The school has 3 teachers stationed in the village, who previously lived in cramped, dilapidated wooden temporary rooms with difficult living conditions. With the school's completion, teachers now have two staff residences and a kitchen.

During the ceremony, A Ky school point students participated in cultural performances on the joyous day of their new school. Students also watched with interest, focusing and enthusiastically cheering for their friends.

Thuong Trach is a border commune covering 1,095 km2, comprising 20 villages and over 3,717 residents. Among these, 569 households are classified as poor and 14 as near-poor, predominantly from the Bru Van Kieu and Chut ethnic groups. Three-quarters of the commune's area consists of high mountains, making transportation difficult. The region also faces challenges due to low education levels and struggling economic, cultural, and social conditions.

The A Ky school point serves 25 students of Ma Coong ethnicity (Bru Van Kieu), all from poor households. Previously, students from grade 1 to grade 5 attended combined classes in 2 temporary, cramped, hot, and dilapidated wooden classrooms.

As part of the program, FPT People for Community Fund (FPT Group) donated to Thuong Trach No. 2 Primary School: 2 55-inch televisions, 2 printers, 1 projector, 6 standing fans, 30 backpacks, and 120 student gift packages, supporting teachers and students in their learning and teaching process.

In 2025, Hope Fund initiated the project to construct the new A Ky school point, with sponsorship from FPT Group, Toshiba Asia Industrial Products Co., Ltd., and readers of VnExpress newspaper. Following a period of construction, the facility is now complete, located approximately 250 meters from the old school along a road at the end of the village, providing convenient access for students.

Students at the A Ky school point are now attending classes in the new, spacious, and clean rooms, which are designed to meet standards.

Nguyen Quang Trung, a teacher at the A Ky school point, noted that the new facility is spacious and no longer hot. The school now has a large yard where students can play during breaks. "The new school provides motivation and encouragement for both students and teachers", Mr. Trung said.

The restrooms, with separate sections for males and females, are designed to be well-ventilated.

In Quang Tri province, in mid-october 2025, Hope Fund and its healthcare partners also handed over 21 new restrooms and bathrooms equipped with water heating systems.

FPT People for Community Fund (FPT Group) presented gifts to the students.

Established in 2017, Hope Fund is a social fund licensed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, operated by VnExpress newspaper and FPT Group. Supporting education is one of the Fund's core programs, known as "School Light". To date, nearly 70 school points have been newly constructed.

Nguyen Van Dai, Vice Chairman of Thuong Trach commune (left), along with representatives from FPT Group and the Ca Roong Border Guard Post, planted a commemorative tree at the A Ky school point.

Mr. Dai expressed that students at the A Ky school point will now learn in a stable, spacious, and airy environment, with clean restrooms and a large schoolyard. "Teachers will live, work, and reside in airy and beautiful rooms with better conditions for their duties and daily lives. This will allow teachers to commit to the school, the village, and their classes, dedicating themselves to providing higher quality teaching and education for students", he said.
