Delegates attend the first session of the 16th National Assembly

On the morning of 6/4, current and former Party and State leaders, along with 500 delegates of the 16th National Assembly, attended the first session at the National Assembly House in Hanoi.

The session took place 20 days after the election of delegates to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels on 15/3. Before the opening session, delegates participated in a flag-raising ceremony.

Earlier in the morning, Party and State leaders and National Assembly delegates paid their respects at President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum.

Leading the delegation were General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, Head of the Party Central Committee's Organization Commission Le Minh Hung, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai, and Minister of National Defense - General Phan Van Giang.

Delegates representing ethnic minority communities attended the opening session.

The session's provisional agenda outlines approximately 11 days of work, divided into two phases: phase one from 6/4 to 12/4; phase two from 20/4 to 23/4, with 24/4 and 25/4 reserved as contingency days. During this time, delegates will consider and decide on organizational and personnel matters, legislative work, socioeconomic issues, state budget, and other important content.
