Before the opening session, National Assembly delegates laid wreaths, paid respects at President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and commemorated fallen heroes at Bac Son Memorial.
During the first two and a half days of the session, the National Assembly will elect the National Assembly Chair, National Assembly Vice Chairs, and members of the National Assembly Standing Committee. Concurrently, it will consolidate the positions of Chair of the Ethnic Council, Chairs of various Committees, State Auditor General, and Secretary General of the National Assembly, who also serves as Head of the National Assembly Office.
The National Assembly will also elect the President, Prime Minister, Vice Presidents, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy. Following their election, the National Assembly Chair, President, Prime Minister, and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court will take their oaths of office.
The legislative body will also determine the structure and number of Government members. It will approve proposals for the appointment of Supreme People's Court Justices and endorse the appointment of Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, and other Government members.
Subsequently, the National Assembly will review and pass eight laws and one resolution. It will also provide feedback on the supplementary report evaluating the implementation of the 2025 socio-economic development plan and the situation in the early months of 2026. Additionally, the National Assembly will pass a Resolution on the 2027 Supervision Program and review and pass resolutions concerning the five-year socio-economic development plan for the 2026-2030 period and the national five-year financial plan.
