Six cars in chain collision on Trung Luong expressway

Six cars collided on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway on the afternoon of 27/11, causing severe damage to many vehicles and traffic congestion for kilometers.

Around 12:00 on 27/11, a tractor-trailer from Can Tho, carrying iron, was heading towards the Mekong Delta. As it passed through Ben Luc commune in Long An province, it suddenly collided with five cars traveling ahead in the same direction.

At the scene, a tractor-trailer pinned a truck, two 5-seater cars, and a 7-seater car against a 16-seater passenger van. The vehicles' front and rear sections crumpled, scattering debris across the road. The truck's front end was forced onto the median, its body and rear wedged between two other vehicles.

While there were no reported casualties, the damaged vehicles completely blocked lane one. This forced traffic into lane two and the emergency lane, causing congestion for several kilometers.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway, measuring 50 km, features four lanes and two emergency lanes. It opened in 2010. After more than 12 years of operation, increased traffic has led to frequent congestion and accidents. A project to upgrade and expand the expressway has been approved.
