Vietnam Social Security announced on 15/8 that the current monthly health insurance payment for students is 105,300 VND, totaling 1,263,600 VND annually. Starting 1/7, with the 50% government subsidy, students will only pay 52,650 VND monthly and 631,800 VND annually.

Students can choose to pay their health insurance premiums every 3, 6, or 12 months. They can register for health insurance at their educational institutions nationwide.

For children aged zero to six born before 30/9, coverage extends from their birth date until 30/9 of the year they turn seven. For those born after 30/9, coverage lasts from their birth date until the last day of the month they turn seven.

First-grade students born before 30/9 are covered from 1/10 of their first school year. Twelfth-grade student coverage lasts until 30/9 of that year. First-year university students are covered from their enrollment date unless their 12th-grade coverage is still valid. Final-year university student coverage extends to the last day of the month their course concludes.

By the end of 2024, over 95.5 million people in Vietnam, representing over 94% of the population, had health insurance coverage.
