In an unnamed house in the Binh Chanh outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City, hope was rekindled for the family of 4-year-old Le Nguyen Bao Lam. Diagnosed with neuroblastoma, her illness plunged the family into destitution. Her father works as a freelance laborer, while her mother quit her job to stay at the hospital. The child's future faced a dead end due to a lack of funds for her treatment regimen.
Upon hearing that the Hope Foundation would support the purchase of specialized medication for his daughter, Le Van Cuong, Bao Lam's father, was speechless. He choked up, saying, "The door that seemed closed has now opened a path to life for her. This is the only lifeline to ensure my child does not have to abandon chemotherapy."

Hundreds of kilometers away, in Khe Sanh, Quang Tri, a miracle also came to 8-year-old Nguyen Tran Gia Bao. Diagnosed with kidney failure at age two, Gia Bao's childhood was marked by regular dialysis sessions. For six years, the boy's body withered, and his face darkened from sleepless nights beside the dialysis machine.
In early 2026, when his condition progressed to end-stage, a kidney transplant became his only chance at survival. Fortunately, the surgery was successful, and Gia Bao received partial financial support from the Hope's Sun program. Gia Bao has now begun to take his first steps and is counting down the days until he can return to school. His mother shared, "For six years, I only wished my child could have one day without needles. This support truly gave my child a second birth."
Bao Lam and Gia Bao are two of the 171 child patients battling critical illnesses, including 32 cases of liver, kidney, and bone marrow transplants, who received treatment support from the Hope's Sun program in the first three months of 2026.
The funding supporting these "young warriors" comes from contributions by individuals, businesses, and community participation through an online race on the vRace platform. Funds from race registration fees, which will be collected until the end of June, will be converted into money for medication and surgeries.
This year, the program plans to expand its scale, increasing the total number of collaborating medical facilities to 17 leading hospitals nationwide. It expects to support approximately 1,000 disadvantaged children. The project also received a commitment of 5 billion VND from the Thien Tam Foundation and Can Gio Urban Tourism Company, along with contributions from entities such as AstraZeneca Vietnam, Novaland, WellCare, and FPT Japan.
Every community contribution adds a ray of light to the future generation. Readers can support the program here.
