In his new capacity, Manh stated his commitment to maintaining administrative discipline and enhancing the effectiveness of state management. He will prioritize accelerating economic growth, developing industrial and strategic infrastructure, strengthening regional connectivity, and promoting science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. The province plans to expedite key projects, reinforce dikes, reservoirs, and irrigation systems, and progressively build modern, integrated urban infrastructure capable of adapting to climate change.
Manh also highlighted agricultural development, tourism, trade, and services as key areas. He emphasized investment in education, healthcare, and culture, ensuring social welfare, bridging regional disparities, and fostering high-quality human resources. Thai Nguyen aims to become a major, modern economic and industrial hub for the Northern Midlands and Mountains region and the Capital Region by 2030.
Nguyen The Manh, 54, hails from Hung Yen province and holds a master's degree in economics. He began his career as an inspector at the Ministry of Finance, progressing through various roles including deputy head, head, and deputy chief inspector of the Ministry of Finance. He later served as deputy general director of Taxation and general director of Vietnam Social Security. He has been deputy head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee since 3/2025.
One day earlier, the Secretariat assigned Manh to the position of Deputy Secretary of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee.
Thai Nguyen province was recently established through the merger of the former Thai Nguyen province and Bac Kan province. It spans 8,375 km2 and has a population of 1.8 million. The resolution from the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Congress in late September sets targets for the locality to become a modern industrial center with upper-middle income before 2030, and a developed, high-income province before 2045.
