Drivers of oto and moto on the pass noticed the incident from a distance and stopped, preventing any collisions. At the scene, many soft soil masses had slid to the roadside edge, near some pine tree roots on the embankment. These soil masses showed signs of instability, posing a risk of further landslides.
At this location, on the evening of 12/9, soil and rocks from the embankment also spilled onto the pass, obstructing traffic. Authorities are currently addressing the landslide site.
Prenn Pass, stretching 7,27 km, serves as one of the main gateways connecting national route 20 to central Da Lat. The road received an investment of 552 ty VND for expansion to four lanes starting in 2023, before its projected opening in early 2024.
