The adjusted master plan designates Tho Chu airport in An Giang province as a category 4C facility, adhering to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. It will primarily serve domestic routes, accommodating medium-range aircraft like the Airbus A320/A321 and Boeing 737.
The airport's planned capacity is 20,000 passengers annually by 2030, projected to expand to 1 million passengers by 2050. The project requires over 234 hectares of land, with an estimated investment of 28,800 ty dong through 2050.
Following this master plan adjustment, An Giang province will feature three airports: Phu Quoc, Rach Gia, and Tho Chu.

The national airport network master plan estimates a total investment of 514,000 ty dong by 2030 for airport system development. This funding will be sourced from the state budget, off-budget capital, and other legal sources.
Following these adjustments, the national airport network for the 2021-2030 period will comprise 32 airports: 15 international and 17 domestic. By 2050, the country plans to expand to 35 airports, with 15 international and 20 domestic.
