Three consecutive accidents cause congestion on Dau Giay – Phan Thiet expressway

Three close-proximity collisions involving 7 vehicles on the Dau Giay – Phan Thiet expressway, near Tan Lap commune, caused hours of traffic congestion on the morning of 26/2.

Around 3h, on the Dau Giay – Phan Thiet expressway near Tan Lap commune, an old passenger bus with a Binh Dinh license plate unexpectedly collided with the rigid median barrier, knocking down 7 concrete sections. It then slid into the shoulder, damaging the guardrail.

About 50 m away, another passenger bus also struck and toppled 8 concrete sections of the rigid median barrier, damaging about 5 m of the roadside guardrail.

Nearby, a sleeper bus traveling from TP HCM collided with a tractor-trailer, two trucks, and a 7-seater car. At the scene, the front of the 7-seater car was deformed, and its driver sustained scratches. The sleeper bus blocked the road.

Because the accident vehicles were on the road, northbound traffic could not pass through the area, causing prolonged congestion on the route. Traffic congestion in the area stretched for over 3 km.

Traffic Police and the route management unit were present at the scene to divert traffic from afar and regulate flow. Vehicles from TP HCM were directed to the Tan Minh interchange and National Highway 55 to avoid congestion.

The police are clarifying the cause of the accidents. However, according to drivers passing through the area, there was light rain on the expressway at the time of the incidents, limiting visibility and making roads slippery.
