Three North-South expressway sections to open in August

Three sections of the North-South Expressway, Vung Ang - Bung, Van Ninh - Cam Lo, and Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan, are expected to open on 19/8, according to the Ministry of Construction.

This year, approximately 889 km of 17 projects overseen by the Ministry of Construction will be completed, said Le Quyet Tien, Director of the Department of Economy and Construction Investment Management.

Among the 12 component projects of the North-South Expressway's second phase (2021-2025), the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang, Bung - Van Ninh sections, and 70 km of the Van Phong - Nha Trang route opened on 30/4.

On 19/8, an additional 208 km of expressway will be completed. This includes the 55-km Vung Ang - Bung section, the 65-km Van Ninh - Cam Lo section, and the 11-km Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan section passing through Da Nang City, coinciding with the Ho Chi Minh Highway.

The remaining 13 km of the Van Phong - Nha Trang section will also be completed, along with some partially opened sections such as Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon (10 of 88 km), Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon (45 of 70 km), and Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh (20 of 62 km).

The Ministry of Construction aims to complete all remaining component projects of the North-South Expressway by December of this year.

At a conference on July 7th to deploy tasks for the last six months of 2025, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh assessed that the disbursement rate of public investment has not yet met expectations. Approximately 63,000 billion VND remains undisbursed, requiring a monthly disbursement rate of 9,000 billion VND.

Specialized units have been assigned to closely monitor construction progress, especially for projects commencing or completing this year, in anticipation of the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2nd.

The minister also requested project management boards to quickly finalize the selection of contractors to construct the traffic operation and monitoring system on the North-South Expressway, ensuring synchronized operation from 1/1/2026.
