Three-story house in Ho Chi Minh City engulfed in flames on New Year's Eve

Flames engulfed a three-story house in Go Vap District on 16/2, causing panic among residents in the area.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on 16/2, when a fire erupted on the top floor of a house approximately 80 square meters in size. Located on street 9, Thong Tay Hoi Ward, the burning property was situated next to a densely populated area of adjacent multi-story buildings, about 2 km from Hanh Thong Tay Market.

Huong Giang, who lives across from the burning house, stated that four people were inside at the time – a couple and two small children on the lower floors – who quickly escaped after discovering the fire. Many neighboring households brought fire extinguishers to assist or stood on tin roofs, pulling water hoses to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading.

Despite these efforts, the flames intensified, causing panic throughout the residential area. According to Giang, an electrical short circuit at the location of the fire had previously ignited a mattress that was drying. "Fortunately, everyone in the house managed to escape before thick black smoke filled the air", Giang said.

Nearly ten minutes later, fire trucks and numerous firefighters arrived at the scene. Firefighters quickly deployed hoses, containing the blaze and preventing it from spreading to the lower floors and neighboring houses.

A representative of Thong Tay Hoi Ward People's Committee confirmed that the incident caused no human casualties. Authorities are currently assisting the household in clearing the scene in time to celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year).
