Over the past week, the North experienced widespread heat due to a strong hot western low-pressure circulation combined with the foehn wind effect. Yesterday, Mai Chau, Hoa Binh (Phu Tho) recorded 39 degrees Celsius, and Ha Noi was around 35 degrees Celsius.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting forecasts that on monday, 13/4, the Northwest will continue to record high temperatures of 36-38 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 39 degrees. The Northeast will generally see 34-36 degrees, with Quang Ninh - Hai Phong being lower, around 32-34 degrees Celsius.
From around 14/4-15/4, a cool air mass from mainland Trung Quoc will move in, causing the heat in the North to gradually decrease and likely end by 16/4. From 16/4-18/4, due to the influence of the late-season cold front, the North may experience showers and thunderstorms. Some midland and mountainous areas could see heavy rain, accompanied by risks of whirlwinds, lightning, hail, and strong gusts.

US-based Accuweather forecasts that Ha Noi's temperatures will drop from now until late next week. By friday, temperatures will decrease by 11 degrees compared to today, reaching 23-28 degrees Celsius. High-altitude areas above 1,500 m, such as Sa Pa (Lao Cai), will see temperatures fluctuate between 17-29 degrees during the first four days of the week, dropping to 13-17 degrees Celsius by the weekend.
In the Central region, the hot low-pressure circulation combined with foehn winds has caused the heatwave to persist since early 4. From 6/4 until now, many areas have experienced intense heat, with temperatures from Thanh Hoa to Hue generally ranging from 38-40 degrees, and some points exceeding 41 degrees Celsius.
The intense heat in the Central region is forecast to continue until the end of 14/4. From 15/4, due to the late-season cold front weakening the hot western low-pressure area, temperatures are expected to gradually decrease, and the strongest heatwave since the beginning of the season is likely to end around 17/4.
The Southern region and the Central Highlands have experienced widespread heat since early 4. From now until 14/4, maximum temperatures will generally be 35-37 degrees Celsius. From 15/4, the heat will gradually decrease and is likely to end around 17/4.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, heat is expected to increase nationwide during the period from 12/4 to 12/5. The number of intense heat days is forecast to be higher than the multi-year average, concentrated in the Northwest and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue.
