Under the plan, people traveling from Dong Thap to Vinh Long via the Rach Mieu 2 bridge will use the road from the Dong Tam intersection (National Highway 1) to Lo Ngang road. This section has four lanes for motorized vehicles and two lanes for rudimentary vehicles.
Upon reaching Lo Ngang road, only cars and motorbikes will be allowed onto the Rach Mieu 2 bridge, with motorbikes sharing the right lane with cars. Rudimentary vehicles and specialized vehicles must turn onto a local road and will not be permitted to continue.
Vehicles crossing the bridge will reach the Thoi Son islet area, which has six lanes. Similar to the Rach Mieu 2 bridge, the My Tho bridge will also only allow cars and motorbikes. Other vehicles will have a separate branch onto Thoi Son islet to access alternative routes.
After crossing the My Tho bridge, vehicles will reach the final section connecting to National Highway 60 towards Vinh Long, which has six lanes.
Vehicles from Vinh Long to Dong Thap will follow a similar route in the opposite direction.

The Rach Mieu 2 bridge spans the Tien River, about 4 km upstream from the existing bridge. The structure is over 17 km long. Its starting point connects to the Dong Tam intersection (the intersection of National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870) in Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province; the endpoint connects to National Highway 60 in Ben Tre city, about one km from the Ham Luong bridge.
The project, with a total investment of over 6,800 billion VND, began construction in 3/2022 and is expected to be completed in early 2026. However, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the project be finished ahead of schedule, with the bridge opening before the National Day holiday on 2/9.
