Tree falls, striking motorcyclist in Hanoi

During a thunderstorm on the morning of 29/3, a sau tree fell across To Hieu street in Ha Dong ward, injuring a motorcyclist.

A motorcyclist was injured when a sau tree, uprooted by strong winds, fell on him on To Hieu street in Hanoi during a widespread thunderstorm around 10:20 a.m. on 29/3. The storm brought lightning and intense winds.

Witness Le Hoang recounted that the tree fell across the motorcycle's seat, trapping the man's leg. "About 10 people and I lifted the tree to free the victim", Hoang stated.

The injured man was subsequently taken to the emergency room.

At the scene, the tree, with a trunk diameter of 15 cm and a height of approximately 20 m, stretched across To Hieu street. Its fall pulled down part of a cable and tore up the sidewalk with its roots. Functional forces quickly arrived to cut and clear the tree, restoring traffic safety.

To Hieu street, measuring 1,2 km long and 12-15 m wide, features two traffic lanes lined with numerous trees.
