Around 11:30 am, a Lam Dong-registered truck was traveling on Khanh Le Pass, National Highway 27C, heading from Khanh Hoa towards Da Lat.
Upon reaching a section through Tay Khanh Vinh commune, at approximately 1,500 meters above sea level, the driver noticed smoke rising from the rear. He promptly pulled the truck to the roadside, exited the vehicle, and alerted passersby to keep their distance.
Minutes later, flames engulfed half the vehicle, charring the cabin, and smoke rose tens of meters. Some vehicles attempted to pass the scene, while a few motorcyclists panicked and fell, being assisted to the side by local residents.
The Firefighting and Rescue Team Area 7, part of the Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police Department of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police, dispatched specialized vehicles and personnel to extinguish the blaze. After about 15 minutes, firefighters brought the fire under control, though the truck sustained severe damage. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Khanh Le Pass, spanning 33 km, is part of National Highway 27C, which extends 121 km. This route links Da Lat with Nha Trang, sees frequent tourist traffic, and is prone to landslides during the rainy season.
