Around 2:45 p.m., driver Huynh Hung, 30, from B'Lao Bao Loc ward, was driving a 7-seater car on national route 28. He was traveling from Bao Lam 5 commune towards Quang Khe commune (formerly Dak Nong). Upon reaching the section through Loc Bao hamlet 3, the car collided with a motorbike. Nong Van Tuan, 46, from Dak Lak, was driving the motorbike, carrying his wife and son, and traveling in the opposite direction.

The accident claimed the lives of Tuan and his wife, Long Thi Huyen, both 46, at the scene. Their son, Nong Hai Lam, 10, was rushed to the emergency room but did not survive.

At the scene, the car had veered down an embankment approximately 2 meters from the road, on the left side of its direction of travel. The damaged motorbike lay a few meters away.

Tuan's family was on their way from home to Lam Dong province to celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year).

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
