Truck driver crashes railway barrier as train approaches

Despite the barrier being lowered and warning signals active, a truck driver attempted to cross railway tracks, breaking the barrier just minutes before a train arrived.

On 9/6, the Traffic Police Department of Quang Ngai Provincial Police fined a 26-year-old driver from Da Nang City a total of 41,5 million dong for violating railway traffic safety regulations.

Two days ago at noon, the driver was operating a cargo truck across a road-rail intersection in Tho Phong commune. Despite warning lights being on and the barrier lowering, the driver still drove past the prohibited area.

Camera footage shows the truck passing the first barrier, then continuing across the tracks. About 5 seconds later, the truck's cargo bed snagged the opposite barrier, causing it to break and fall onto the road. The vehicle then left the scene. Over two minutes later, a train passed, and no accident occurred.

The driver was fined for two violations: crossing the barrier while it was moving and operating a vehicle that damaged the railway barrier.

Recently, there have been continuous incidents of drivers attempting to cross railway tracks as trains approach. On the evening of 7/6, a dump truck tried to cross after the barrier had lowered, got stuck on the tracks and was hit by a train.
