On the afternoon of 26/11, a truck caught fire while traveling on the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway, leading to significant disruption. Around 3 PM, the Thanh Hoa-plated truck was heading northbound when flames erupted from the rear of its cargo bed as it passed through Ky Xuan commune. The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Ha Tinh Provincial Police quickly dispatched a fire truck and dozens of officers to the scene. Firefighters brought the inferno under control after approximately 30 minutes. The fire completely destroyed the vehicle and its cargo. The aftermath left a trail of ashes covering the road and oil spills, making the area slippery and hazardous.
The incident severely hampered traffic flow on the expressway. Authorities worked to clear the scene, and by over 4:30 PM, normal traffic conditions were restored.
The Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway, which stretches for nearly 54 km, represents an investment of over 9.700 billion dong. Construction began in 2023, with the entire route becoming operational on 28/4. The first phase of the expressway features four lanes, allowing for a maximum speed of 90 km/h and a minimum speed of 60 km/h.
