Around 6:15 p.m. on 18/8, a raft owned by Nguyen Van Minh, 45, of Dam Ha commune, carrying 17 people from Ghenh Vo wharf in Quang Ha commune to the Ba Hon area of Binh Hai village, capsized due to a squall.
Rescue forces from Dam Ha commune coordinated with the Quang Duc Border Guard Station to conduct an overnight search. Sixteen people were brought safely ashore, while two remained missing.
By 7 a.m. on 19/8, the bodies of Nong Thi Huyen, 41, and Tran Van Quan, 43, both residents of Quang Ha commune, were recovered.

At the same time, the storm also affected five aquaculturists near Hon My area, Quang Ha commune. By 7:15 p.m. that day, all five were safely brought ashore.
This morning, a tropical depression entered the Gulf of Tonkin and is forecast to directly impact Quang Ninh and Lang Son provinces with maximum winds of 49 km/h, bringing rain to Northeast and North Central Vietnam. According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7 a.m., the tropical depression had sustained winds of 61 km/h (level 6-7), with gusts up to level 9. It was located 135 km southeast of Bach Long Vi island and moving west at 15 km/h.
By 7 a.m. on 20/8, the depression is expected to maintain level 6 winds with gusts up to level 8 as it moves into the Quang Ninh - Lang Son area. It will then turn northwest, crossing the Vietnam-China border and weakening into a low-pressure area.
