A group of 12th-grade students encountered an accident while swimming at Xuan Dieu beach in Quy Nhon on the afternoon of 5/4. One student was rescued by locals, but another is still missing after being swept away by strong waves.
Around 5 p.m., four 12th-grade students from Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted in Dien Hong ward went to swim at Xuan Dieu street beach. While in the water, the entire group was swept far out by the waves. Two of the students managed to swim back to shore safely.
Hearing cries for help, local residents quickly intervened, rushing to rescue student Nguyen Hoang. He was then transported to Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital for medical attention. The remaining student, An Hung, was carried away by the waves and has not yet been found.
A representative from Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital confirmed that Nguyen Hoang was admitted with a choking cough due to near-drowning. Fortunately, his health condition has since stabilized.
According to a leader from Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, the students had traveled from Pleiku to Quy Nhon earlier that day to take a university entrance exam. In the afternoon, after completing their exams, the group decided to go swimming at the beach, where the accident occurred.
