Mr. Tran Hai Anh, Vice Chairman of Mui Ne Ward People's Committee (UBND), stated that initial verification identified the two victims as Pham Thi Hoa, 55, residing in Mui Ne ward, and Tran Thi Mang, 56, residing in Binh Thuan ward. They worked as seafood vendors for tourists along Hon Rom beach.
In the late afternoon, with few customers, the two women stopped their vending and decided to go for a swim, when the accident occurred.
According to local residents, the sea waves were not large at the time of the incident, suggesting they might have been swept away by a rip current.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
