On 14/9, Phuoc Thai communal police announced they had coordinated with Mr. Huynh Huu Hoai and his wife to locate the parents of a 5-year-old boy found wandering alone on the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway access road in the area.
The incident occurred around 10 h p.m. on 12/9. Mr. Hoai was driving his wife on the expressway towards TP HCM. As he turned right onto the access road, about 100 m from National Highway 51, he spotted a boy wearing a backpack running on the left side of the road. When approached by the couple, the boy only cried and mumbled.
Concerned for the boy's safety, being alone at night on a busy road, Mr. Hoai and his wife stopped their car. They comforted the child and then took him to Phuoc Thai communal police, located over 2 km away, to report the incident and seek help finding his parents.
To prevent any misunderstanding, Mr. Hoai used his phone to record the entire process of approaching the boy and taking him to the police. He and his wife also provided their personal information, phone numbers, and all video and audio recordings from the moment they found the boy until he was handed over to the authorities.
After taking custody of the boy, the police took him back to the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway roundabout area to search for clues about his relatives. About two hours later, they contacted the boy's father and reunited him with his family.
According to Mr. Hoai, the boy's father explained that he was busy with work and had left his son at his sister's house nearby. When the boy woke up and couldn't find his parents, he ran out onto the road to look for them and got lost.

The father later sent a message of gratitude to Mr. Hoai and his wife for helping to find his son and safely taking him to the police.
Phuoc Thai communal police commended Mr. Hoai and his wife's actions, stating that taking the boy to the police was appropriate given they found a child alone at night. Their provision of full personal information and images of the approach and handover also helped clarify the incident.
