Vietnam's most advanced aircraft to participate in National Day parade

30 aircraft, including the Su-30MK2 fighter jet, will perform at the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on 2/9.

The 371st Air Division, the 918th Air Brigade, and the Northern Flight Management Company recently held a conference to coordinate and ensure safety for the National Day air display.

The 371st Air Division of the Air Defense - Air Force announced that the celebratory performance will feature 9 formations with 30 aircraft. These include helicopters, C295, C212i, Yak-130, L-39NG, and Su-30MK2 aircraft. Three airfields will be used for takeoff and landing: Hoa Lac, Gia Lam (Hanoi), and Kep (Bac Ninh).

According to the commander of the 371st Air Division, this is the largest and most complex air operation to date. The unit held a preliminary meeting, outlining the flight maneuvers, coordination principles, and flight management plans for civil aviation during the training, joint training, and celebratory flights.

The Su-30MK2 is Vietnam's most advanced fighter jet, commissioned in December 2006. It is a long-range, heavy multirole fighter developed by a Russian corporation. With its extended combat range and ability to use long-range precision-guided weapons, the Su-30MK2 is classified as an air-to-ground assault weapon, targeting tactical and operational objectives behind enemy lines.

At a press conference commemorating the 80th anniversary of the General Staff (7/9/1945), General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Minister of Defense, stated that this year's National Day parade will include a full complement of forces, comprising ground marching units, mechanized forces, air, and naval units.

"In addition to the army and other branches parading on the ground, there will also be tanks, submarines, surface ships of the Navy, Coast Guard, and Border Guard," the general said. There will also be armed forces from friendly nations.

The Ministry of National Defense sent invitations to five countries to participate in the parade commemorating the 80th National Day on 2/9: Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, and Belarus. Vietnam also invited the Ministries of National Defense of eight countries—Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan—to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on 2/9.
