Vietnam will be the inaugural stop in President Infantino's current series of visits to Asian countries. Prior to his arrival, he engaged with members of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) in the Dominican Republic on 22/8 and 23/8.
The FIFA President and Secretary General will arrive by private jet at Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi. Their itinerary includes a visit to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) headquarters before they proceed to My Dinh Stadium to watch the ASEAN Cup 2026 final's second leg between Vietnam and Thailand. Football Association of Thailand (FAT) President Nualphan Lamsam is also expected to be present at the match.

Infantino's first visit to Vietnam occurred in 2/2018, following the U23 team's impressive performance as U23 Asia runner-up. During that visit, he praised Vietnam as a great nation with a football foundation that should not be underestimated. He extended his congratulations for their U23 Asia runner-up achievement and their participation in the Futsal World Cup 2016 and FIFA U20 World Cup 2017.
