Located just 50 km from central TP HCM, Can Gio boasts an extensive ecological space, recognized by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve. Its ecosystem integrates forests, rivers, and the sea. Due to its vast tree cover, the area is often called the "green lung" of TP HCM, vital for air regulation and preserving the estuarine-coastal ecosystem.
This unique terrain and landscape define the VnExpress Marathon Green Paradise Can Gio course, which organizers position as the "greenest in the system".
According to the organizing committee (BTC), the course is currently being finalized and differs from previous events held here. The route will combine segments through mangrove forests and coastal areas, allowing runners to experience continuous changes in scenery.

For most of the route, athletes will run beneath dense mangrove canopies. The natural shade helps reduce heat radiation, maintaining a more comfortable temperature than urban courses. Upon leaving the forest, runners will enter coastal roads within the Vinhomes Green Paradise urban area. This section lacks obstructions, allowing athletes to enjoy the sea breeze and sunrise views.
The BTC stated that the course design aims to create a "running with nature" experience for all four distances. The running path is wide, flat, and has low traffic, allowing participants to maintain a steady pace.
"Running is not just an endurance race; it's also a way to rejuvenate mental energy. Can Gio's green spaces offer runners primitive experiences," a BTC representative said.
The VnExpress Marathon Green Paradise Can Gio will take place on 1/5, expected to attract 5,000–8,000 athletes. The event offers all four distances: 5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km. Can Gio becomes the 10th destination in the VnExpress Marathon system, following famous tourist cities such as Hue, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, and Da Nang.
Occurring on a friday during a four-day holiday, the race is a suitable option for families seeking to combine competition with a getaway. After the race, runners will have two additional days to explore mangrove forests, visit ecological zones, or enjoy seafood in Can Thanh.
Information regarding ticket sales, prices, course details, and race jerseys will be updated by the organizing committee soon.
