Airlines increase flights to tourist destinations for New Year's holiday

Vietnam Airlines is adding nearly 270 flights, equivalent to about 45,000 seats, on tourist routes to major cities to serve passengers during the New Year's holiday.

From 1/1 to 4/1/2026, Vietnam Airlines is increasing flights on routes with anticipated high demand between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, connecting to Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Hue, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Pleiku, Buon Ma Thuot, and Con Dao.

Other airlines are also planning additional flights. Recently, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, and Sun PhuQuoc Airways have all added new aircraft to meet the increased passenger demand at year-end.

During the peak period, passengers are advised to proactively book and purchase tickets via the airline's website, mobile app, or at official ticket offices and agents.

Travelers should complete online check-in within 24 hours before departure via the website, mobile app, VNeID, or at self-service kiosks. Passengers are particularly encouraged to use biometric technology for check-in to reduce processing time at the airport.

Passengers who have completed online or biometric check-in and do not have checked baggage can proceed directly to the security screening area, bypassing traditional check-in counters. This saves waiting time and reduces airport congestion during peak hours.

Yesterday, the railway sector also announced additional services on popular short-haul routes with high demand, including Hanoi - Vinh, Lao Cai, Hai Phong, and TP HCM - Nha Trang, Da Nang.

In addition to operating new trains with approximately 13,400 seats, the railway sector is adding carriages to existing train sets, increasing the total capacity to 22,000 seats. The Hanoi - Hai Phong route is prioritized with 10,000 seats.

Yesterday, the Government decided to swap working days to create a 4-day New Year's holiday for public servants, civil servants, and public sector employees, while encouraging the private sector to adopt this arrangement. This decision meets the public's demand for homecoming, tourism, and rest.
