Guest sets record for eating at 28 Michelin restaurants in one day

Joshua Fyksen, from Las Vegas, US, set a Guinness record for visiting the most Michelin-starred restaurants within 24 hours.

On 9-10/5/2025, Fyksen visited a total of 28 Michelin restaurants in New York City. This achievement surpassed the previous record of 25 restaurants, which was set in 2024 by Sujoy Kumar Mitra and Rajnish Kumar Tripathi from Hong Kong, China.

This was not Fyksen's first attempt. In 2023, he established a record by visiting 22 restaurants in New York. After his initial record was broken, he decided to reclaim the title. "I am quite competitive," Fyksen told Guinness World Records, stating he wanted to reclaim the top spot.

Fyksen meticulously planned his route. He thoroughly studied the entire Michelin Guide, accessing websites and menus of each restaurant to find reservation opportunities. For establishments known for their multi-hour tasting menus, such as Eleven Madison Park, he strategically opted for the bar area, where smaller dishes were available without a reservation, despite the potential wait. He also proactively contacted some restaurants via email that did not offer a la carte dining, requesting an exception. "A few places agreed, even opening early to support me, but most maintained their policies," he said.

During his culinary marathon, Fyksen encountered both memorable moments and unexpected challenges. The Jonah crab salad with apple and wasabi at Le Pavillon restaurant in Midtown stood out as the most impressive dish. However, the journey was not entirely smooth. Fyksen mentioned he encountered heavy rain just before arriving at Eleven Madison Park in the Flatiron district. "I was drenched, to the point that the receptionist had to ask if I was at the right place," Fyksen said, adding that he was still warmly welcomed and even offered a complimentary cocktail.

Fyksen concluded his record-setting endeavor at Gramercy Tavern in Gramercy Park, where he enjoyed oysters and ordered champagne to celebrate the record. The entire experience required him to fly from Las Vegas to New York. The total cost amounted to 1,500 US dollars, including nearly 1,000 US dollars for food (excluding tips) and approximately 470 US dollars for transportation between the various locations.

Currently, Fyksen works as a wine expert at a renowned Las Vegas restaurant, driven by a deep passion for culinary exploration. He admitted that the fast-paced nature of the record attempt prevented him from fully savoring each dining experience. He plans to return in the future for a more in-depth exploration.
