President Putin holds phone call with general secretary To Lam, congratulating Vietnam on successfully organizing the 14th Party Congress.

During a phone call with general secretary To Lam on the evening of 24/1, Russian president Vladimir Putin extended congratulations to the Communist Party of Vietnam on the successful organization of its 14th Congress. He also congratulated the Central Committee, the Politburo, and general secretary To Lam personally on being elected by the Congress to leadership positions for the new term, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Russian president noted that the 14th Congress is a significant political event for Vietnam. It is crucial for outlining directions, setting major goals, adopting important decisions, and defining tasks and measures to ensure Vietnam's rapid, sustainable development in the new era, aiming to become a high-income developed nation by 2045.

He emphasized that comrade To Lam's continued election as general secretary of the 14th Central Committee of the Party reflects his political prestige and significant contributions. These include formulating and implementing strategic decisions for sustainable socio-economic development, protecting national interests, and enhancing Vietnam's standing on the international stage.

General secretary To Lam thanked President Putin for his interest in the significant political event of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He also expressed gratitude for the warm, sincere congratulations and personal sentiments extended to the Party, the Vietnamese people, and the general secretary personally.

The general secretary stated that through its congresses, Vietnam has consistently received attention and support from traditional friendly nations, including the former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation today.

The general secretary shared that the 14th Congress concluded successfully, fulfilling its significant historical mission. It reviewed the implementation of the 13th Congress Resolution, assessed 40 years of Doi Moi (renewal) and the outcomes of the socio-economic development platform and strategy. The Congress also outlined goals, directions, and tasks for the next 5 years, and made strategic decisions concerning the nation's future and destiny in a new era of development.

The Congress reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to national independence and socialism under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. It established a new growth model based on knowledge economy, digital economy, green economy, and circular economy. Furthermore, it emphasized fully leveraging the role of all economic sectors and strengthening the comprehensive building and rectification of a clean and robust Party and political system.

The Congress also identified "foreign affairs and international integration" alongside national defense and security as crucial and ongoing tasks. It affirmed a consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, self-resilience, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.

General secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam consistently views Russia as a reliable and leading partner in Europe. Vietnam desires to develop friendly relations and cooperation with Russia in the spirit of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

President Putin emphasized Russia's particular appreciation for its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam, built on 75 years of traditional friendship. This friendship has been continuously fostered by the leaders and people of both nations. He affirmed that Russia will continue to coordinate closely to comprehensively strengthen bilateral ties, for the benefit of both peoples and the goal of ensuring stability and security in the Asia-Pacific.

The two leaders agreed to engage in constructive and open discussions, based on mutual understanding, respect, and harmonized interests. This aims to elevate cooperation in traditional sectors and expand into new potential areas.

President Putin cordially invited general secretary To Lam to visit Russia at any suitable time. The general secretary gladly accepted the invitation and extended an invitation for President Putin to visit Vietnam soon.
