According to information from the National Competition Commission (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Piaggio, the motorcycle manufacturer, announced a recall for 1,063 Vespa and Piaggio scooters produced between january and february 2026.
The following Vespa and Piaggio models are affected:
| Affected vehicle | Quantity (units) |
| Vespa Primavera 125 | 53 |
| Vespa Sprint 125 | 746 |
| Vespa Sprint 150 | 238 |
| Piaggio Liberty 125 | 26 |
| Total | 1,063 |
Piaggio Vietnam reported that the recall stems from a capacitor within the electronic circuit of the front headlight assembly, which includes both high and low beams. This component, manufactured by a secondary supplier, was found to not fully meet required technical standards.

This issue can cause the headlight assembly to suddenly turn off while the vehicle is in motion. In some instances, the light system indicator on the dashboard may also cease to function. The manufacturer warns that this condition reduces driver visibility and compromises traffic safety, particularly at night or in low-light conditions.
Piaggio Vietnam stated that despite the issue affecting only a certain percentage of vehicles, the company is proactively conducting the recall to ensure customer safety and rights.
The recall program begins on 5/6 at all authorized Piaggio Vietnam dealers nationwide. The program will last for three months. Affected vehicles will receive a free inspection and replacement of the faulty component.
