The traffic incident involved four young men speeding on two motorcycles, weaving through multiple cars. When a car ahead changed direction, one of the motorcycles, unable to react in time due to its high speed, crashed directly into a concrete median. The other motorcycle collided with the rear of a pickup truck that was turning right.
The four motorcyclists were thrown forward, falling in front of several cars. Casualties are not yet known.
Driving skills: Vehicle operators must stay within their lanes and avoid speeding, reckless overtaking, or dangerous swerving, which poses a safety risk to themselves and other road users. Specifically, motorcyclists are prohibited from using lanes reserved for cars, and wearing a helmet is mandatory when riding a motorcycle.
Decree 168/2024 stipulates that motorcyclists who swerve dangerously face fines of 8-10 million VND. If an accident occurs, the fine increases to 10-14 million VND, along with a license suspension of 10-12 months, and potential criminal prosecution. Violators will also have their vehicles confiscated.
Motorcyclists not wearing helmets are fined 400,000-600,000 VND for each violation. This fine applies to both the driver and the passenger. Furthermore, motorcyclists who enter lanes designated for cars face fines of 600,000-800,000 VND.
