SUV crashes into bus, three dead

An SUV crashed into the left side of a bus, with nearly half the vehicle penetrating the interior, killing at least three and injuring six.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported the accident occurred after 5 p.m. on 15/9 on Nordhoff Street at De Soto Avenue in Chatsworth. The cause of the accident is under investigation. Rescue teams had to extricate multiple passengers trapped in the wreckage and assess the health of all bus occupants.

At the scene, one victim died on the bus, and another was ejected and also died. Paramedics rushed six injured individuals to the hospital, with two in critical condition. A representative from the Metro transportation authority later confirmed the SUV driver also died.

Aerial images showed the SUV was almost perpendicularly embedded deep into the bus's left side. Rescue crews used specialized equipment to separate the two vehicles and extract trapped victims.
