Toyota Vietnam announced that its vehicles are equipped with a parking assist control unit, a component of the panoramic view monitor (PVM) system. This system is designed to display the rear-view image when a driver reverses.
However, in affected vehicles, the parking assist control software may cause the rear-view image to momentarily freeze during reversing or fail to appear when the ignition is next turned on. This issue significantly increases the risk of collisions.

The defect impacts 2,203 Toyota vehicles and 2,774 Lexus vehicles, totaling nearly 5,000 units. The Japanese automaker plans to initiate the recall campaign from late 2025, extending until approximately 2028.
For the Toyota brand, affected models include the Camry, Alphard, Land Cruiser Prado, and Land Cruiser, manufactured between 20/7/2023 and 20/7/2025.
Lexus models impacted by the issue are the ES, NX, RX, GX, LX, LM, and LS, produced from 2/8/2021 to 29/8/2025.
Owners of affected vehicles can have the defect repaired free of charge at authorized Toyota and Lexus dealerships. The repair is estimated to take approximately one hour per vehicle.
Lexus operates as a subsidiary of Toyota. In 2025, the combined sales for both brands in Vietnam exceeded 74,200 vehicles. Toyota accounted for 71,954 units, an 8% increase from 2024, while Lexus sold 2,252 vehicles, marking a 45% rise over the previous year. These figures positioned the Japanese automaker as the second-largest in the Vietnamese market, trailing only VinFast.
