The NX8 appeared in the product catalog published by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on 5/12, paving the way for its market debut.
This is the third model in Dongfeng Nissan's N series, following the N7 all-electric sedan and the N6 plug-in hybrid sedan. According to the application information, the NX8 will be available in both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) options.
The joint venture announced the NX8's official launch in the first half of 2026. While a specific date is not yet available, it could coincide with the Beijing auto show in late April 2026.

The NX8 measures 4,870 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,917 mm. Its unladen weight ranges from 2,045-2,245 kg, and it has a top speed of 180 km/h.
The SUV adopts Nissan's V-motion design language. A slim light strip spans the full width of 2,400 mm, featuring a flat Nissan logo and matrix-style headlights. Flush door handles and seamless side cladding maintain a sleek profile. At the rear, a full-width OLED taillight cluster, similar to Audi's technology, is composed of over 2,000 individual lights with customizable patterns.
Full interior details are yet to be revealed, but the technological direction is clear. The NX8 supports highway and urban navigation, smart parking, and a driver assistance system with LiDAR, indicating an advanced semi-autonomous driving system rather than basic driver aids.
The NX8 EREV is equipped with a 1.5-liter engine producing 146 horsepower. Its electric motor delivers 261 horsepower. The NX8 BEV features a single electric motor with either 288 horsepower or 335 horsepower. This model uses a CATL-supplied LFP battery.
Dongfeng Nissan stated that the NX8 is built on an 800 V high-voltage platform, supporting charging speeds up to 5C.
The joint venture launched the N7 electric sedan on 27/4, with prices ranging from 119,900 yuan (17,000 USD) to 149,900 yuan (21,200 USD).
This competitive pricing is a major counter-offensive by joint venture automakers in China over the past few years.
On 1/12/2024, Dongfeng Nissan launched the N6 hybrid sedan with a starting price of 91,900 yuan (13,000 USD), positioning it as the next competitively priced model after the N7.
