On 11/4, a dangerous traffic incident occurred on Vo Chi Cong street in Cat Lai ward, Thu Duc City. A trailer truck, without signaling, recklessly overtook a dashcam-equipped vehicle from behind in the outermost left lane. The truck then swerved and cut off the car, forcing it onto the shoulder and to a complete stop to avoid a collision. Fortunately, the incident did not result in an accident.
Such reckless driving carries severe penalties under Decree 168/2024 on traffic violations. Drivers found operating a car erratically or swerving on the road face fines of 40-50 million VND and revocation of their driver's license for 10-12 months. Repeat offenders also risk vehicle confiscation.
When confronted with a sudden cut-off, drivers must remain calm and quickly observe their surroundings. Proactively reducing speed and gently steering or coming to a complete stop can minimize the risk of a collision. Furthermore, as vehicles are considered sources of high danger under the law, drivers must enhance their sense of responsibility, strictly adhere to safety regulations, maintain a safe distance, control their speed, and avoid aggression towards other vehicles during traffic disagreements.
