The proposal is detailed in a draft decree for extending payment deadlines for Value Added Tax (VAT), Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Personal Income Tax (PIT), and land rent for 2026. According to the Ministry of Finance, this extension aims to provide businesses and individuals with additional resources for production, business operations, and economic growth.
Under the draft decree, tax and land rent payments will be extended by two to five months, depending on the declaration period.
Specifically, businesses and organizations filing monthly VAT will have payment deadlines for amounts arising from the May to September periods extended. The VAT for the May period must be paid by 20/11, while payments for the June to September periods are deferred until 21/12.
For businesses filing quarterly, the VAT amounts for Q2 and Q3 are also proposed for extension, with deadlines on 2/11 and 31/12, respectively. Provisional corporate income tax payments for these two quarters will follow similar extended deadlines.
For business households and individuals, personal income tax arising from the May to September periods (or Q2 and Q3) will receive extensions similar to VAT deadlines.
Regarding land rent, the Ministry proposes extending the payment deadline for half of the amount due for the first period of 2026, with the latest deadline being 2/11.
According to calculations by the Ministry of Finance, the total value of tax and land rent payments extended under this policy is approximately 125 trillion VND. This amount is about 10 trillion VND higher than last year.

This policy of extending tax and land rent payments has been applied by competent authorities since 2020 to support the economy. During the 2023-2025 period alone, the total amount extended was nearly 293 trillion VND. The Ministry of Finance states that this measure helps businesses improve cash flow and supplement working capital without reducing budget revenue estimates.
Under the draft decree, taxpayers only need to submit a request for extension to the tax authority, no later than the deadline for Q3 tax declaration. The applicable taxes and land rent payments will not incur late payment penalties.
The Ministry of Finance expects to submit this decree to the Government in June for immediate implementation, with the policy applying until the end of this year.
