VN-A926 is the second A321LR to join the Sun PhuQuoc Airways fleet, following VN-A925 which was received on 3/9.

According to the airline's plan, the remaining eight A321LR narrow-body aircraft are expected to join the fleet soon, gradually enhancing the airline's medium-range operational capabilities in markets such as Japan, Kazakhstan, and several cities in Russia.

A representative from the airline stated that the addition of the A321LR is part of SPA's fleet expansion, which includes various aircraft types. The A320/A321 models will continue to serve as the foundation for domestic and regional routes, while the A321LR will extend the airline's capability to operate medium-range markets and longer journeys with narrow-body aircraft.

The Airbus A321LR is a long-range variant of the A321neo narrow-body aircraft series, developed to extend the operational range of single-aisle aircraft for longer journeys. This version can be equipped with up to three auxiliary fuel tanks (ACT), extending its operational range to 7,400 km and allowing for a maximum takeoff weight of 97 tons.

The extended range enables the A321LR narrow-body aircraft to operate medium-range international routes, making it suitable for markets with demand that do not yet require the larger capacity of wide-body aircraft.

Based on A321neo technology, the A321LR aircraft achieves up to a 16% reduction in fuel consumption and approximately 20% lower CO2 emissions per seat compared to the A321ceo generation. It also boasts reduced noise levels due to its new generation CFM LEAP-1A engines.

A Sun PhuQuoc Airways representative announced that the Airbus A330 will begin joining the fleet from late September this year, adding greater carrying capacity for long-haul international routes. In the long term, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner series is part of the airline's development strategy to gradually complete its capabilities for intercontinental route operations.

With aircraft types capable of serving different route categories, SPA gains more options based on distance, market size, and operational needs as it expands its international network.

The acquisition of the A321LR also provides additional capacity for the airline to expand its connectivity from Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia to Japan, Kazakhstan, and the Central Asia region. This milestone occurs as Phu Quoc receives investments in aviation and tourism infrastructure, creating a foundation to enhance international connectivity, especially leading up to APEC 2027.
