The VN-Index saw a positive trading session today, largely remaining in the green. The index closed above 1,734 points, marking an increase of almost 8 points compared to yesterday. This upward movement was significantly driven by Vingroup's stock, VIC, which contributed nearly 3,4 points to the VN-Index's gain. VIC closed the day at 202,000 VND, a 1% increase from its reference price, and recorded the highest market liquidity at nearly 1,063 billion VND, with over 55% of matched orders coming from active buyers.
In the morning, the market briefly surpassed 1,740 points, approximately 16 points above the reference level. However, the index gradually retreated, stabilizing sideways until the midday break. Early in the afternoon, the general index continued its sideways movement. After 2 p.m., strong buying emerged, pushing the index to retest the 1,740-point level, though it failed to breach it. Selling pressure then appeared, leading to a market adjustment.
Despite the overall gain, market consensus remained low. This was evident as 160 advancing stocks on the HoSE were only slightly more than the 134 declining stocks. The market was heavily influenced by large-cap stocks, with the VN30 index rising over 11 points and 23 of its constituent codes remaining in positive territory, serving as a crucial driving force.
Buying interest concentrated in the telecommunications, technology, food and beverage, and oil and gas sectors. Conversely, securities, construction and materials, and insurance stocks tended to decline. In addition to VIC, other stocks like VCB, CTG, MBB, and MSN provided support to the market. Conversely, DMX, LPB, and LPS were among the stocks hindering the index's upward momentum.
The lack of broad market consensus was further reflected in the liquidity. Even with the VN-Index's increase, the total trading value on the HoSE declined by almost 10% to approximately 13,500 billion VND. This marks the 11th consecutive session where liquidity remained below the 20,000 billion VND threshold, indicating that the upward trend has not yet been confirmed by significant capital inflows.
Furthermore, foreign investors continued their net selling for the 6th consecutive session. Today, they net sold approximately 617 billion VND, primarily focusing on VIC, VPB, VIX, and SSI, though no single stock saw net sales exceeding hundreds of billions of VND.
