Le Dinh Nam, Assistant Head of Training Department at the Border Guard Academy, announced this on 17/11.
Specifically, starting in 2026, the academy will exclusively use three combinations: C03 (literature, math, history), C04 (literature, math, geography), and D01 (literature, math, English). These will apply to both its Border Guard and Law training programs.
According to Nam, this change aligns with regulations from the Ministry of Education and Training. Current university admission regulations require that admission combinations include at least three subjects, with math or literature being mandatory and weighted at no less than 25% of the total score. From 2026, common subjects across combinations must contribute at least 50% of the total weight.
By discontinuing the C00 and A01 combinations, the academy's three remaining combinations will all share two common subjects: math and literature.

Universities began planning adjustments to their admission combinations earlier this year, following the Ministry's announcement of these new regulations. Some institutions, such as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Hanoi Open University, initially considered dropping the C00 combination. However, they paused these plans due to negative reactions, as the late announcement did not provide students with sufficient time to prepare.
As of now, in addition to the Border Guard Academy, the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, also plans to adjust its combinations. This university intends to discontinue D01 (math, literature, English) and B00 (math, chemistry, biology), retaining only combinations that share two common subjects: math and physics.
For 2025, the Border Guard Academy plans to admit 250 students through three methods: direct admission and priority admission for national and international award winners; scores from competency assessment exams organized by two national universities; and high school graduation exam scores.
The Border Guard Academy's admission scores, based on high school graduation exam results, ranged from 26,13 to 27,94 out of 30.
