Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy is introducing new subject combinations for admissions in the 2026 academic year. The university will now utilize the C00 (literature, history, geography) and D01 (mathematics, literature, English) subject combinations for admissions into its public health and psychology programs (the latter is slated to open).
This marks a departure from previous practices, contrasting with Hanoi Medical University's past brief use and subsequent discontinuation of the C00 combination for psychology. Additionally, several programs, including preventive medicine, pharmacy, nursing, midwifery, and nutrition, will consider the D07 (mathematics, chemistry, English) and B08 (mathematics, biology, English) combinations, alongside the traditional B00 (mathematics, chemistry, biology) combination.
However, for core medical programs such as medicine, traditional medicine, and dentistry, the university will continue to exclusively accept the B00 combination, maintaining rigorous entry requirements. These expanded options represent a shift from last year's admissions, where most programs solely relied on the B00 combination. Only pharmacy and biomedical engineering then offered alternative combinations, namely A00 (mathematics, physics, chemistry) and X06 (mathematics, physics, informatics).
The specific admission combinations and methods for each program at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy for 2026 are as follows:

For 2026, the university will retain its five established admission methods: direct admission and priority consideration; national high school graduation exam scores; V-SAT exam scores; admission for international students; and contract-based training admissions.
Last year, the cutoff scores for admission based on national high school graduation exam results at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy ranged from 17 to 24, with medicine being the most competitive program.
