For the 2026 academic year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMUSSH), a member of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, plans to admit nearly 4,400 students through two main methods: direct admission and combined admission. The combined admission method is central to the university's strategy, incorporating various score components: the 2026 national high school graduation exam, the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City competency assessment (DGNL), three-year high school academic transcripts (HB), and other achievements from academic pursuits, social activities, cultural engagement, physical education, sports, arts, and international foreign language certificates.
The university's combined admission score calculation, based on a 100-point scale, is as follows:Admission Score = Academic Performance Score (w1 * National High School Graduation Exam Score + w2 * Competency Assessment Score + w3 * Academic Transcript Score) + Bonus Points + Priority Points. Here, w1, w2, and w3 represent the respective weights assigned to the national high school graduation exam score, the competency assessment score, and the academic transcript score.
For candidates lacking a full set of scores, specific weighting applies. If a candidate only has national high school graduation exam scores and academic transcripts, their academic performance score will be calculated as 90% of the graduation exam score plus 10% of the academic transcript score. Similarly, if a candidate only has competency assessment scores and academic transcripts, their academic performance score will be 90% of the competency assessment score plus 10% of the academic transcript score. When all three score components are available, candidates have the flexibility to choose the option that yields the highest score.
Before applying the main formula, all component scores are converted to a 100-point scale:: National High School Graduation Exam Score = (Graduation exam score based on admission combination) x 100/30: Competency Assessment Score = (Competency assessment exam score) x 100/1200: Academic Transcript Score = (Average three-year high school academic transcript score based on admission combination) x 100/30
Bonus points are awarded to three specific groups of candidates: those from 149 high schools prioritized for admission by Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (up to 3 points); national or provincial outstanding students (up to 4 points); and individuals with international foreign language certificates or cultural, sports, and artistic achievements (up to 3 points).
Last year, using the national high school graduation exam score method, HCMUSSH's benchmark scores ranged from 20 to 28,55. Journalism, under combination C00 (Literature, History, Geography), recorded the highest benchmark. Conversely, the Russian Language major, under combination D01, had the lowest. Overall, 95,8% of majors had benchmark scores exceeding 21 points.
