On the afternoon of 24/11, Hoang Sy Hung, Chairman of Thuong Xuan Commune People's Committee, stated that all female students involved attend Thuong Xuan Secondary School and Xuan Cam Secondary School. Authorities initially determined the incident occurred last weekend, stemming from personal conflict and slandering each other.
In a video circulating on social media on the evening of 23/11, a group of two or three peers took two female students to a small road, forced them to kneel, and repeatedly slapped them in the face, demanding apologies. Another student watched and filmed the incident, while also demanding, "no slandering" and "do not tell the teachers".
According to Hung, the two assaulted female students did not suffer serious physical injuries, but were psychologically affected. Today, police and school officials met with the parents and the students involved in the assault to take statements and issue warnings.

Student fights have occurred continuously since the beginning of the school year, prominently in Thanh Hoa. In october alone, peers beat two male students in Trieu Son and Quang Binh communes to death.
For common incidents, the highest form of discipline for students who assault peers is writing a self-reflection report with family confirmation and commitment, according to Circular 19 of the Ministry of Education and Training, effective from 31/10.
