Actor Liu Songren recently stirred nostalgia among fans by sharing a behind-the-scenes anecdote from the classic 1992 TVB drama "The Greed of Man". His personal post on 10/6, featuring a memorable scene with co-star Adam Cheng, quickly became a top trending topic on Weibo, drawing significant attention.
The shared excerpt depicts Fong Tsun Sun (Liu Songren) becoming simple-minded after being attacked by Ding Hai (Adam Cheng). In a hospital scene, Ding Hai, eating an orange, notices Fong Tsun Sun's craving. He then offers Fong Tsun Sun a piece of the orange he had already placed in his mouth. Liu Songren recalled this as one of the most moving images for him when rewatching the series. He noted the scene was achieved in a single take, without the need for prop changes or post-production editing.
"At that time, I was completely Fong Tsun Sun, and luckily, my co-star Adam Cheng was also Ding Hai. We were no longer actors; we were living the lives of our characters," Liu Songren wrote. This sentiment resonated deeply with fans, highlighting the immersive acting that defined the show.

Liu Songren's post prompted an outpouring of emotional responses from viewers. Fans commented: "This film made me cry so much," "Every few years, I rewatch The Greed of Man; it's a classic," and "Adam Cheng's villainous role was truly brutal." The enduring impact of the drama and its characters remains evident decades after its initial release.
"The Greed of Man", which premiered in 1992, is a narrative exploring the mutual elimination of triad forces and the intense stock market battles in Hong Kong. The story centers on Ding Hai and Fong Tsun Sun, childhood friends whose adult lives diverge into opposing paths, leading to a bitter feud that extends across generations to their children.
The film also featured many prominent TVB stars such as Sean Lau, Yammie Nam, Vivian Chow, Amy Kwok, and Michael Tao. According to Mtime, this is one of TVB's standout works. Its scriptwriter skillfully wove together market rivalries with subtle romantic elements of daily life, creating a portrayal that was both fierce and realistic.
Liu Songren, now 76 years old, is a familiar face on Hong Kong screens, having starred in more than 100 film and television productions. His notable works include "Luk Siu Fung", "Qin Shi Huang", "Yesterday's Glitter", and "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber 2001". The veteran actor is now retired, his health weakened by a previous stroke. He and his wife have been together for 26 years and do not have children.
