Cocoon launched its Hau Giang lotus inorganic sunscreen and announced a major corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, "Resilient Baby Turtles Return to the Sea," in partnership with Con Dao National Park. The program, unveiled in August at Hon Bay Canh, Con Dao, TP HCM, aims to protect sea turtles, with Cocoon donating 300 million dong for conservation efforts.

The limited edition Hau Giang lotus inorganic sunscreen utilizes non-nano zinc oxide, a mineral filter exceeding 100 nm, to reflect and absorb ultraviolet (UV) rays. This formulation avoids oxybenzone and octinoxate, chemical filters banned in the US from 1/1/2021 due to their harmful impact on coral reefs. Instead, Cocoon incorporated a natural UV-absorbing compound derived from broad bean extract, which functions similarly to avobenzone filters, making the product reef-friendly.
The "Resilient Baby Turtles Return to the Sea" campaign addresses the critical survival challenges faced by sea turtles in Con Dao. Annually, hundreds of thousands of hatchlings emerge, yet only about one-thousandth survive to adulthood. This perilous journey begins in their first moments, as they must imprint the characteristics of their birth beach to return decades later for reproduction. A brand representative highlighted the urgency, stating, "From that fragility, any small environmental impact can become an accumulating risk for a species facing extinction."

The 300 million dong donation will fund essential conservation activities at Con Dao National Park. These include: monitoring mother turtles during breeding seasons, safeguarding nesting beaches, facilitating the hatching process, and releasing hatchlings into the sea. Forest rangers at Hon Bay Canh, who undertake these tasks each season, will directly oversee the conservation efforts.
