Land official accused of defrauding many of land ownership certificates

Tran Nguyen Minh Nguyet, a former land official, is accused of exploiting residents' lack of knowledge to acquire numerous land ownership certificates, selling properties, and embezzling over 28 billion VND.

On 11/3, Dong Nai police arrested Nguyet, 41, on charges of fraudulent appropriation of property, forging seals and documents of agencies and organizations, and using forged seals and documents.

Investigations revealed that Nguyet, a former land administration and construction official for the Tam Hoa ward People's Committee (now Tam Hiep ward), engaged in fraudulent activities from 2020 to 2025. Driven by personal debt and expenses, she allegedly exploited residents' limited understanding, creating fake land authorization contracts and misleading them into signing these documents.

She then used these land ownership certificates to mortgage and transfer properties to various individuals, ultimately embezzling over 28.8 billion VND.

Dong Nai provincial police have urged anyone who believes they are a victim of Nguyet's scheme to contact the investigative agency for guidance and to protect their rights.
