Theft of 50 taels of gold from girlfriend's sister

Tran Trung Nghia, 23, arrested for stealing gold from girlfriend's sister six times, selling it for nearly 800 million VND.

Dak Lak Provincial Police arrested Tran Trung Nghia on 29/4 for property theft. Nghia, 23, is accused of stealing 50 taels of gold from his girlfriend's sister on six separate occasions, selling the stolen items for nearly 800 million VND.

During his stay, Nghia discovered his girlfriend's sister owned considerable gold jewelry. From 26/3 to 21/4, he stole the 50 taels of gold, using the proceeds for his personal spending.

According to the investigation, in November 2022, Nghia, a resident of Nhan Thang commune, Bac Ninh province, met a 38-year-old woman from Dak Lak online. They developed a romantic relationship, and earlier this year, Nghia moved from Bac Ninh province to Ea Kao ward to live with his girlfriend and her sister.

Authorities are currently expanding the investigation into the case.
