Danh Phong, 36, was detained on 7/7 by An Giang Provincial Police on suspicion of murder after he allegedly fatally attacked his neighbor following a challenge to a fight.

The investigation revealed a history of conflict between Phong and the victim, Hong, 40, who were neighbors. Disputes frequently arose when Phong, after drinking, would direct insulting remarks at Hong.

The fatal confrontation occurred on the evening of 5/7. Phong was drinking alone at his home in Giong Rieng commune when Hong arrived to "talk." An argument ensued, during which Hong reportedly challenged Phong to a physical altercation.

Enraged, Phong retrieved a knife from his house and attacked Hong. Though the victim managed to flee home, he later succumbed to his severe injuries.

Following the attack, Phong returned to his house and went to sleep. Upon discovering that his neighbor had died, he proceeded to surrender to Giong Rieng Commune Police.
