Coca-Cola's Tet short film combines artificial intelligence and traditional art

Coca-Cola's 2026 Tet short film, part of the "spark joy, weave a new Tet" campaign, applies artificial intelligence and incorporates traditional art elements to tell a story of Vietnamese family reunion.

The short film, "spark joy, weave a new Tet," unveils a traditional Tet atmosphere where technology bridges and refreshes longstanding Vietnamese cultural values. It guides viewers into a world crafted from the art of weaving, with each frame formed by digital threads.

The familiar golden swallow, a symbol on Coca-Cola soft drink cans, appears throughout the film. It soars over neighborhoods, past cherry blossom branches, yellow apricot trees, and Tet rooftops. The film suggests that Tet does not simply emerge, but is "woven" together by the collective efforts and connections of individuals, creating a complete picture of reunion.

To realize this concept, Coca-Cola collaborated with domestic and international creative teams. They blended traditional craftsmanship with artificial intelligence (AI), modern design, and animation technology. The film's images are not random generative products; instead, they stem from numerous sketches, static visuals, and thousands of technological tests. This process preserves the spirit of handicraft while leveraging AI's capabilities in shaping and motion.

Through the lens of 3D technology, familiar Tet details such as lucky coins, red lucky money envelopes, and Coca-Cola cans appear with embossed effects and fluid movements. Interwoven digital threads create a continuous rhythm, bringing a sense of excitement and positive energy to viewers. The film's music is also a highlight, combining Vietnamese traditional instruments with a contemporary symphony orchestra. This blends cultural identity and modern spirit, supporting the emotional flow of the visuals.

According to Coca-Cola, applying AI in the Tet short film aims to create new visual effects and refresh the way the Tet story is told, especially for younger generations. In the context of modern Tet, familiar values such as reunion and family bonding require conveyance in a language more accessible to Gen Z—a generation closely linked with technology and digital creativity. The film "spark joy, weave a new Tet" is thus a new approach, connecting generations through visual and emotional experiences.

The golden swallow image in the film symbolizes spring, serving as a continuous thread connecting life's fragments and generations within the family. Through this, the film emphasizes the spirit of co-creation, where each individual contributes to creating the Tet atmosphere.

A representative from Coca-Cola Vietnam stated that the "spark joy, weave a new Tet" campaign aims to affirm the spirit of collectively creating a complete Tet season. According to the brand, Tet is most beautiful when generations meet, share joy, and traditional values continue in new ways. Each action and collective effort by individuals is likened to threads, helping to "weave" a new year.

Beyond the short film, Coca-Cola disseminates the spirit of "weaving a new Tet" through digital and festive activities during the 2026 Tet season. With an approach combining AI technology and traditional art, the brand hopes to deliver an experience that is both modern and culturally profound, opening new perspectives on telling the Tet story in a digitized context.
