Locket held a ceremony on 30/5 at Cala d'Hort beach in Ibiza, Spain, attended by eight close friends. She wore a Galia Lahav wedding gown valued at over 20,000 USD, which had been in her suitcase for three years. She read vows to herself in a mirror and placed a 27,000 USD diamond ring on her own finger.
In 2023, Bonnie Locket, who lives in Ibiza, Spain, married after 11 years together but divorced nine months later upon discovering her husband's infidelity. Her subsequent boyfriend also betrayed her. In 1/2026, the loss of a loved one led her into depression. Through therapy and the support of friends, Locket gradually regained her balance.
"I chose myself, not because I don't believe in love, but because I understand that self-love must come first," Locket stated. Despite organizing a self-marriage, she said she remains open to finding the right person in the future.
With this ritual, Locket entered a commitment of sologamy, a symbolic form of self-marriage that holds no legal value or marriage certificate.

Sociological studies indicate that sologamy emerged in the late 1990s, linked to the rise of single living and changing views on traditional marriage. This trend is growing rapidly, attracting thousands of hashtags on social media platforms.
Before Locket, many women in other countries also chose this path. Andria Johnson, 40, from Maryland, US, spent 5,000 USD to organize a solo wedding in Tulum, Mexico.
In India, Kshama Bindu became one of the first women to perform a self-marriage ceremony in 2022. Singer Selena Gomez also hosted a solo wedding-themed party in 2022 before marrying Benny Blanco in 2025.
